iPodville by Sinanation

Posted in Music on January 28th, 2011 by Sinan

I am crazy for music and I have been going a little nuts over sampling, downloading, categorizing and mixing. I can’t help it.

Ultimate access to global beats, from tribal music to exclusive nightclub tunes, has been ours ever since the computer met up with the Internet, the iTunes and the iPod. For that, I am forever grateful. Yet, I can’t disregard the few problems this sweet convenience made way to. Abundance brought in unlimited thirst: favored songs outdated faster. Portability brought in isolation, at home, on the train, in flight, on the beach: I got a little deafer with and more and more sedated on my tunes.

I realize the problem and I embrace it. It was all personal until friends started noticing this obsession and wanted to join in the vibe.

I think I must be doing a good job considering the number of CDs and iPods I keep receiving to be synchronized with my tunes. I am happy and proud to share. Here is iPodville by Sinanation:

Total Population: 3,368 songs
Current Mayor: iTunes
Music for: 12.6 days
Number of Playlists: 33+
Number of personal DJ sets: 24
Number of Outdated Songs (that I don’t have the guts to delete): 270+

Dream Homes – Morgins, Switzerland

Posted in Real Estate, Ski - Europe on January 26th, 2011 by Sinan

Lara, I think you are going to love this one:

This 10 room, ski in/out chalet is located on the ski slopes of Corbeau in Morgins, a unique two-hour drive from Genève (if you take the lac Leman-side route) as you start in Switzerland, pass through France and make it again into Swiss soil. This wooden gem was fully renovated in 2009. 3 floors come with 5 bedrooms, multiple terraces and 6 bathrooms. Offered at USD 5m.

Morgins is part of the Portes du Soleil, known to be the largest ski domain in Switzerland with 200 ski lifts.

What we do to nice legs

Someone in women’s fashion finally realized how hairy we can be and where our head usually is. I should note here that these are definitely not the elegant stockings I would want to see on any girl. Yet I appreciate their reach and uniqueness.

Here is the most unusual humerous item from Les Queues de Sardines‘s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection (thanks to father for saving the catalogue from Prêt à porter Paris):

Dream Homes – Shower Redefined

Posted in DEBATES, IDEAS, ETC., Real Estate on January 24th, 2011 by Sinan

Nothing can compete with the comfort of a deep bathtub, but then again we can’t quite disqualify the shower. The one below is from a contemporary villa in La Tour-De-Peilz, Vaud, Switzerland (10 min. drive to Montreux).

This is simply the best shower I have ever seen (although I am not a big fan of the house). Looks cool, rains on you, keeps the feet warm. What else can you ask for?

Giorgio, it is time to get back on the wheel

Posted in DEBATES, IDEAS, ETC. on January 21st, 2011 by Sinan

Dear Giorgio,

You have built one of the most successful and influential fashion houses of our time. I have known and respected your products since childhood, acknowledging the Armani name as a high-end respectable brand. On top of all I was amazed by the food you served at the Armani Cafe in Boston (which is unfortunately now closed), especially the chocolate souffle, fully respecting your temporary genius in entertainment.

Yet somewhere along the way you have chosen a direction not initially embraced by your vision. Your famous eagle and Emporio Armani were all oversized, over-done on each of your collection: becoming so large that the craftsmanship and detail on your designs started to disappear leaving the field to enormous EAs, ARMANIs, EMPORIOs. The classic jeans that were a favorite gave into space gear-like, warn-out, teared-out, beaten and broken pants that are impossible to own beyond a circus-like catwalk. I concluded: the brand that once appealed to the tasteful Italians chose the Asian way. Not because Asia had better taste but because it had thirst for brand and thus, the key to profit. I can’t blame you for that Giorgio, but what I can blame you for is a pair of gloves that painted my face black without me being aware of it, making me look like an accidental coal miner in the heart of a metropolitan city.

You can use fake leather. You can use seaweed to design stuff for all I care, but you should be responsible for testing their durability before pushing out any collection. That should be your ultimate goal for a once praised brand now struggling to survive beyond the Asian hemisphere. You can still turn it around; only if you get back on the wheel.

I hope we can do business again Giorgio. Ciao till then.

Dream Homes – Rio de Janerio, Brazil

Incredible weather. A penthouse overlooking one of the most famous beaches in the world. 850 sq. meters. 2 floors. On Ave. Atlantica, next to Copacabana. A private rooftop infinity pool and soaring views from almost all the rooms. Carnivals, New Years, etc. Great friends, unlimited music day and night.

Consider it a vacation home. Consider it a getaway. It is a little far from Istanbul, but who can complain when it is inside a full service luxury condo? The final step is to have the guts to spend USD 8.5m.

Bad Bad Bad incredibly Sweet Habit

Posted in DEBATES, IDEAS, ETC., Music on January 19th, 2011 by Sinan

It is sad to dream of dangerous amounts of alcohol and flashy girls with a mix of popular dance beats, disco lights, tuna tartar, french fries, steak and an ice cream topped with a season finale of an incredibly fat bill. It is inhumane to still step in it knowing that a single table of fun could temporarily solve the problems of hundreds suffering from hunger. It is even worse to do it when you know it is bad for your health. But admit it, like a little child admits for sweets, like a smoker admits for nicotine: we are all a bit in love with the dark side. We are all ready to take the pain and the heart break for a few hours of sizzled-up vicious fun beyond our own limits. We are all a little selfish, a little crazy in the head. Here are the few party places I wish I never knew about (especially at the office). Do you have any others to add on the list?

Floripa, Brasil – Cafe de la Musique:

Psarou Beach, Mykonos, Greece – Nammos Restaurant:

Courchevel, France – Le Cap Horn:

St. Tropez, France – La Voile Rouge:

New York, NY, USA – The Oak Room:

Viktor Lazlo

Posted in Music on January 18th, 2011 by Sinan

This amazing French singer with an original name of Sonia Dronier (she took her stage name Viktor Lazlo from the character of Viktor Laszlo in the famous 1942 movie Casablanca) is one the greatest when it comes to slow/romantic songs. My most favorite Lazlo song is “Waiting for the Night”. I have been trying to track it down for a long time and still couldn’t download it to my iTunes library. Let me know if you find it somewhere. Sinanation would forever be grateful. Until then here is a YouTube version (with a freaky background image):

P.S.: Thanks to Seda, I got the link to finally download “Waiting for the night”. I thank her again for all her help.
