The End of an Era…

Posted in New York City, RELATIONSHIPS, Wanted - People on June 9th, 2009 by Sinan

To my family away from home,

“We had a great run” some say. It was the right time, the right crowd, the right place and the right motivation. New York is that song track we have fallen in love with the first time we listened to it. Played over and over again, we have forgotten how tired we would become…eventually dying to skip to the next track.

I don’t want this to be a sad journal remembering all the great moments of our life in New York, but a hopeful note that one day the same song we listened to will become a classic and move us the way it did for all this time.  There is no need to ask why we don’t see each other that often now or why we fail at every attempt to make a plan that will motivate us like it did a year ago. We all know the answer. All we need is a pause, a break.

Now when I look back I see reminiscences of what a great beat we had for everything that surrounded us. The places or the occasion did not matter as long as we were under one roof. It was us that made it happen. Once all the food, alcohol, sunglasses and skis were stripped the idea behind our union was simple. We wanted to be outside the office. Outside the lonely apartments. Closer to how we felt at home. Closer to what we felt with our families back home. Away from all the forced and superficial ties we had within the fast corporate Manhattan. We were the single pieces of the puzzle waiting to find our spot within the crowd and be a part of this mutual agreement called friendship. We were the juicer dying to get all the juice out of New York.

We have been through so much along the way. We have lost some, but overall we have gained so much. We have all danced to an amazing song that will one day find us , just like we will all find each other again (wherever we are). We will all be glad to be a part of New York City and a part of the team that we have recognized as our family away from home.
